Abstract
Foreign bodies of the urethra and bladder are seen with iatrogenic injury, self-insertioand, rarely, migration from adjacent sites. The most frequent complications of foreign bodies are urethritis, urethral tear with periurethral abscess and or fistula, haemorrhage, and urethral diverticuli. Fournier’s gangrene is the result of a highly lethal and rapidly progressive necrotizing infection of the perineal and genital fascia. Anorectal, genitourinary, and traumatic infections are the most common causes of Fournier’s gangrene. In this case report, we present a 57 year old patient with mental retardation who was admitted with scrotal swelling, fever, anuria and treated by emergency surgery with the diagnosis of Fournier’s Gangrene.
