A Case of Renal Mucinous Tubular and Spindle Cell Carcinoma

Mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma is a newlydefined, rare type of renal cell carcinoma. It is usually selflimited in the kidney and has a low malignancy potential. The tumour should be differentially diagnosed from other renalcell carcinoma, primarily the sarcomatoid papillary renal-cell carcinoma, with its dense tubular architecture, focal papillary structures, mucinous production and spindle cell morphology in addition to the foamy cells. In this article, a 68 year-old male with a complaint of hematuria was presented. During the ultrasonographic abdominal examination, an 8-cm diameter solid mass which has a viable heterogenous internal structure was detected occupying the middle and upper pole of the right kidney. The mass observed in the upper pole of the right kidney during the BT was removed with nephrectomy. During the pathological examination, in the myxoid stroma, the pathological tissue which consisted of cuboidal cells which exclude nuclear atypia and lined various-sized tubules, cord structures and a few spindle cells, was defined to give a reaction immunohistochemically to vimentin, cytoceratine 7 and cytoceratine 19 diffuse strong, EMA focal strong, high molecular weight cytoceratine focal positive, respectively. The case, diagnosed as Renal Mucinous Tubular and Spindle Cell Carcinoma with these findings, has been monitored without any complication for 24 months.
