PEMIKIRAN DAKWAH AL-FARUQI: KAJIAN DARI SUDUT METODOLOGI DAN ISI KANDUNGANNYA

This paper is a study of the concept and the thinking of dakwah adopted by Isma il Raji al-Faruqi. He was a very well-known Muslim figure in the field of philosophy, comparative religion and pioneering efforts for interfaith dialogue in the West. He was also a very active figure in doing the works of dakwah to the whole world. Data was collected through secondary research methods. The initial findings generally show that al-Faruqi employs the methods of al-Quran and rationality in conveying dakwah. While the content of dakwah itself is an elaboration of the concept of tawhid promulgated by him. The concept of tawhid according to al-Faruqi is a broad concept involving all aspects of life, including history, comparative religion, philosophy, ethics, epistemology, anthropology and others. Based on the al-Faruqi’s observation and analysis, the problems of ummah begin when the thought, civilization and cultural aspect were segregated from the concept of tawhid. On this understanding of the problems, al-Faruqi forms and develops the concept of tawhid. He also invites all Muslims to return to tawhid as the turning point for the development of thought, culture and civilization of the nation.
