Abstract
Implant applications have been in dental practice since 1960 s. In time, an increase has been observed in both implant applications and implant types. Zygomatic implants have been developed for cases, in which sole dental implant applications are insufficent due to causes such as severe maxillary posterior atrophy. The goal is to enhance the rehabilitation of patients by providing retention of the prosthesis to the severely atrophied maxilla, where dental implants, sinus lifting operations are not indicated. In this article researchs about zygomatic implants between 1960-2007 with the help of keywords zygomatic implants, athropied maxilla, dental implant were reviewed by the Pubmed data base. This article aims to inform about indications, qualifications and surgical procedures of zygomatic implants.
