Abstract :
Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence, distribution, location, size and dental relationships of idiopathic osteosclerosis at the jaws by examining dental volumetric tomographic findings. Matarial and Methods: 3D dental volumetric tomographs of 500 patients were reviewed in this study. They were taken between January 2007-March 2010 in a radiological center. Patient informations were recorded by authors. The statistical analyses of our study were performed using SPSS software. Results: IO was identified in 59 (% 11.8) patients. The radiopacities in 20 (%4) patients were accepted to be an IO. The most radiopacities were observed in the mandibular molar region but there was no significant difference in prevalence of IO. Conclusion: 3D dental volumetric tomographic findings were used in our study. Therefore, locations, sizes and dental relationships of lesions in the jaws were analysed more in detail and the results were similar to other investigations.
