Abstract :
Purpose: The aim of the studt was to evaluate the performance of the repair of old amalgam restorations with different materials and material combinations regarding the microlekage. Material and Methods: Occlusal cavities were prepared on 40 caries free molar and filled. After storage time of 90 days in water in room temperature for aging, repair cavities were prepared adjacent to aged amalgam restorations.Teeth were divided into 4 equal groups before placing the repair restorations. All the restored and repaired teeth were subjected to the thermocycling and loadcycling. They were immersed in 0.5% basic fucsin for 24h at 37°C and then were sectioned using Isomet. Data were statistically analyzed. Results: No difference in microleakage at the interface between old amalgam and repaired amalgam was found between the groups. Conclusion: Using Amalgambond Plus and Ormocer or Amalgambond Plus and Flowable Ormocer and Ormocer combination to repair small defects at the occlusal amalgam restoration leads a better performance regarding microlekage if it is compared with the repair restorations using Amalgam or Amalgambond Plus and Amalgam.
