Dental Students 2th and 5th Grade Comparison of Latex Allergy

Purpose: Latex many medicinal materials, tools and equipment and is a key ingredient used in daily life. Health employees, especially in the field of health products that contain latex allergy appears to be an increasing problem in development. Aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of latex sensitivity between the second and fifth graders. Materials and Methods: This research was done between the second and fifth grade students studying. A questionnaire consisting of seventeen questions on among the students face-to-face interview. The obtained data were evaluated using SPSS 15.0 computer program. Results: In our study, 320 people were interviewed. The average age of the students is 21.88 ± 2.581. The research group, the reputation of 43.4% men and 56.6% of the female students are accounted. Latex sensitivity of 19.1% was observed in all groups. Students who are allergic to foods, drugs, and family history of allergy, which students in groups was highly significant incidence of latex sensitivity. In our study, 11.9% of second grade latex sensitivity, was found to be 27.0% in the fifth grades. Conclusion: Dentistry students, latex and latex-containing materials is important to be informed about the measures to be taken against allergies.
