Abstract :
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the maxillary anterior tooth color of young Turkish population according to Vitapan Classical-3D Master shade guide and CIE L*a*b* color system, and to evaluate the effect of gender on the color values. Material and Methods: The color of 164 volunteers’ maxillary central-lateral incisors and canines were measured with VITA Easyshade spectrophotometer. Results: For all volunteers, L* values of canines were lower and a* values were higher than central-lateral incisors. Females’ L* value is higher than males (p 0.05). For all individuals; the lowest ΔE values were found between the central and lateral incisors; the highest ΔE values were found between the central and canine teeth. Conclusions: The tooth colors of young Turkish population were especially matched with B and C color groups in Vita Classical; M and L color groups in 3D Master shade guide. No volunteers had D color group in Vita Classical. The minimum distiribution found in R color group in Vita 3D Master shade guide.
