New queer cinema: Before and after

This work aims to focus on ‘New Queer Cinema’, a movement which emerged as part of the independent filmmaking in the USA of the 1990s, as well as represented by the films of few British directors. This work, which offers a brief history on the representation of homosexuality in Western cinema, also dwells on queer theory and queer film studies. After dealing with the directors of the ‘New Queer Cinema’ and their films, the work focuses on the aftermath of the movement.
