A Woman in the Field

In this article, I aim to narrate the dilemmas that I experienced as a feminist female researcher in the field research of my PhD thesis in the name of “Forced Migration as an Intercultural Encounting Situation: The Foreign Perception of the Local; Example of Asylum Seekers in Turkey”. In my field research that I carried out in Gaziantep between July – December 2011, I tried to understand not only my research questions but also how I carried out a field work; I was always keeping an eye on me. Having to face the pozitivist in me, was entrapping me into contradicting myself and the question in my mind was whether the feminist methodology belongs only to the women studies. May pouring out the grievances about all these issues be articulated to a methodological discussion which consider the gender of the researcher as an analytical component? In this self-reflexive article, I would like to share how I experienced the field, as a woman.
