  • Abstract
According to urban sociologists, the automobile and the city transform each other in fundamental ways. The automobile, emerged for the first time at the end of the 19th century in everyday life, has become one of the most impressive examples of the meeting of the human being and technology in the context of functionality and semiotics. Due to the capitalist mode of production cities has been growing , traffic is becoming complex; at the same time gender discirimination in access to transportation and vehicles are emerging. They are also reinforcing the heteronormativity of the traffic, urban space, technology and the automobile via becoming feminine or masculine. The automobile, which allows potential corporealization also contributes to the production of gender identity and heteronormativity.
