Abstract
Stabilization standards ofpoly(vinyl chloride)(PVC)films fundamentally depend on essentiallaws: solvation and "reverberation"stabilization. The photo-stabilization ofPVC films byepoxidizedoleic acid was investigated. Photo-stabilization activities were determined bymonitoring the carbonyl, polyene and hydroxyl indices with irradiation time. The changes inviscosity average molecular weight of PVC with irradiation time were also tracked usingtetrahydrofuran as a solvent. The quantum yield of the chain scission (Φcs) was evaluated andfound with range 4.53E10-8and 8.12E10-8. Postulated mechanisms were outlined depending onthe structure of the additive.
