  • Abstract
    The effectiveness of the learning organization should lead to increase knowledge, skill and bring positive changes to the school community. Thus, this study aims to identify the effectiveness of the learning organization practices in an excellent school. The theoretical framework of both Rosnah Ishak (2012) and Watkins and Marsick (1996) were modified to form the conceptual framework of the study. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to thirty teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean and standard deviation. This study found the majority of the following effectiveness of learning organization practices were high and satisfactory with the scale of 5 (Very Often) and 4 (Always) is in the range of percentages between 50 and 100. The practices included the following dimensions of the learning organization as vision and mission of the organization, organizational climate and structure, organizational leadership, individual learning and collective learning culture. However, the effectiveness of the learning organization practices among the dimensions was moderate and moderately satisfactory with the scale of 3 (Seldom) in the range of percentages between 50 and 100. The four practices involved the discussion of the school’s vision and mission within school community, the team s vision in helping the new school community to understand the vision, learning climate was set up in the external and internal environment of the classroom, technology equipments (e.g. computer and LCD) were provided in the classroom and the school leaders were aware of the school community potential. This study also found the ranking of the following practices of the learning organizations i.e. individual learning within the organization when the mean score is of 3.86 and the standard deviation 0.80, a culture of collective learning (mean=3.85 and standard deviation 0.88), organizational leadership (mean=3.63 and standard deviation 1.03), organizational climate and structure (mean=3.62 and standard deviation 1.04) as well as vision and mission of the learning organization (mean=3.54 and standard deviation 1.07). The implication of the study is the effectiveness of the learning organization practices should take place at all levels including individuals, teams, organizations and education stakeholders.
