Culture Education in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language

As it is known, learning a new language is like learning a new culture and new way of thinking. The relation between language and culture has always been an important issue for both learning and teaching. In this study, it is suggested that teaching of Korean Language is more effective when it infuses the teaching of culture into the courses. Teaching Korean culture and cultural components also help Turkish learners to understand Korea and help them develop empathy to have successful communication and understanding of Korean life practices. This study aims to explain how the education of Korean culture (beginner s level) is being done in Turkey and to find out more effective methods for culture teaching courses taken by Turkish students.
