Abstract :
The current issue in Vietnam, attracting the attention of society, is the impact of the dredging activities of marine works. This is one of the reasons for environmental pollution; the annual volume of dredging material is very large, with an average of 12 million tons a year. In addition to practical effects on socio-economic development, dredging also causes significant negative impacts on the surrounding environment. To have effective solutions to minimize negative impacts and promote positive impacts. The technological process of dredging involves three basic stages of dredging sediments from river and sea bottoms, transporting sediments and dumping sediments at the disposal sites. All of the above stages are more or less affecting the natural situation in the work area. Depending on the location, time, dredging facilities and dredging technology, dredging can cause positive or negative impacts on the surrounding environment. This leads to the demand of using dredged materials for building materials and in the construction of infrastructure, to prevent dumping this material into the sea that causes damage to ecosystems and coastal erosion. Therefore, the analysis and evaluation of such impacts on the basis of research, processing of information sources and actual monitoring are very necessary. In this paper, the authors studied utilizing dredging material in Hai Phong navigational access channel that has been treated with chemical additives for building infrastructure, improving the capacity to exploit waste material and the protection of seaport environment thus contributing to the sustainable development of the marine economy.
