Abstract :
The past few decades have seen tremendous developments insurgeons’approachestopatientswithacutetraumaticinjuriesinvolving the spinal column and the spinal cord. As a resultof advances in the scientific knowledge of the biomechanicaland neurological bases of spinal trauma, along with ever-improved imaging modalities and operating techniques,nonsurgical and surgical management approaches to spinetrauma patients have evolved. Due to its unique, diverse, andalso challenging aspects, spinal trauma must be handled byorthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons with subspecialtytraining or particular expertise in spine surgery.
