Abstract :
The enhancement techniques of the heat transfer by forced and mixed convection in a lid-driven cavity is presented in this review. Different cavity configurations with lid-driven have been studied by many researchers and they reviewed in this article such as circular, rectangular, trapezoidal, corrugated, square, ellipse, and triangular with different thermal boundary conditions. Lid-driven applications in practical engineering include solar collectors, heat exchangers, food processing, nuclear reactors, crystal growth, technologies of lubrication, and production of float glass. Forced convection in lid-driven cavities is resulted from the lid movement which causes shear flow. While, natural convection is resulted of buoyancy driven associated with temperature gradient throughout the enclosure. Many investigations were carried out to enhance combined convection heat transfer in lid-driven cavity. Enhancement techniques included effects of using of nano fluids, porous media, magnetic field, inclination angle, amplitude, dominated parameters, and different geometries with the same aspect ratio. The present work comprises a review for enhancement methods and presents the important conclusions resulted from these studies.
