Abstract :
An article written on Dostoevsky’s novels by the Russian literary theorist Mikhail M. Bakhtin in 1920s aroused the interest of literature communities. The rediscovery of Bakhtin, who was arrested and lived in exile for many years, took a long time. Bakhtin points out the importance and difference of the fact that heroes in Dostoevsky’s novels can express their thoughts totally freely, without the restriction and interference of the writer. In this regard, he produces concepts such as ‘polyphony’and ‘heteroglossia’. A similar approach can be seen in A. H. Tanpınar’s novels (especially in Huzur). Tanpınar does not intervene with the heroes whose thoughts he disagrees and he sets them free.
