Abstract
Spoken discourse is characterized by a multitude of verbal and non-verbal elements that participants to an interaction employ in the co-construction of meaning/action and in indicating their uptake of utterances: turn-taking practices, backchannels, pragmatic markers, and gesture, to name a few (Caffi Janney, 1994; Norrick, 2012a).
