Abstract :
Energystorage,whichiscapturingandstoringenergyproducedatonetimeand/oratacertainplaceforuseatalatertimeand/orotherlocations,isoneofthemostcriticalissuesforhumansocietytorealizesustainability.Develop-mentofnext-generationenergystoragematerialsisoneofthehottestresearchtopicsinthematerialssciencefield.Inrecentdecades,advancedscanningtechniquesincludingSEM,TEM,AFM,STMs,andRamanspectroscopyhavebeenabundantlyemployedinobservingmorphologies,charac-terizingmicrostructures,andidentifyingspecificphysicalandchemicalpropertiesinordertodesigninnovativematerialswithcontrollablestructures,understandthefor-mationmechanisms,clarifythecatalyticmechanisms,andelucidatetheeffectofdesignedparametersonenergystorageproperties[1].Theaimofthisspecialissueistopublishhigh-qualityresearchpapersaswellasprovideacomprehensivereviewaddressingthelatestandstate-of-the-arttopicsfromactiveresearchersinthefieldofenergystoragematerials.Thisspecialissuecontains1oresearchpapersand1reviewpaperrepresentingsomeofthelatestresearchinenergystoragematerialsexploredbyadvancedscanningtechniques.
