  • Abstract
    Thispaperdescribestheuseofdifferentconductingpolymers(polyaniline,poly(o-ethoxyaniline),andpolypyrrole)asasensitivelayeronasiliconcantileversensor.Themechanicalresponse(deflection)ofthebimaterial(thecoatedcantilever)wasinvestigatedundertheinfluenceofrelativehumidity.Thevariationsinthedeflectionofthecoatedcantileverswhenexposedtorelativehumiditywereevaluated.Theresultsindicatedalinearsensitivityinranges,wherethehighvaluewasobtainedforapolypyrrole-sensitivelayerbetween20and45%ofhumidity.Furthermore,thesensorshowsexcellentperformancealongwithrapidresponseandrecoverytimes,relativelylowhysteresis,andexcellentstability.Thesensorsdevelopedarepotentiallyexcellentmaterialsforsensinglowhumidityforlongtime.
