Abstract :
TheSouthAfricanlabourlawservesasaguideforemployerstoaccommodateinjuredindividualsintheworkplace.Theaimofthe
studywastoexploreanddescribetheexperiencesofindividualswithtraumaticbraininjuryregardingreturningtoworkthrough
theuseoftheModelofOccupationalSelf-Efficacy(MOOSE).Thestudyutilizedamultiplecasestudyresearchdesign,and10
participantsparticipatedinthestudy.Ananalyticalstrategyofexplanationbuildingwasusedtoanalysethedata.Threethemes
emergedfromthestudy,i.e.,Theme1:themodelhasitslimitations(barriers),Theme2:themodelhelpsfacilitatework
integration(facilitators),andTheme3:furtherenhancementstoimprovethemodel.Thefindingsofthisstudyindicatedthat
theparticipantexperiencesoftheMOOSEareausefulmodeltofacilitatethereturnofindividualslivingwithaTBIbackto
work.Copingskillsandsupportgroupswerealsoviewedasbeinganimportantpartofthevocationalrehabilitationprogram.
