Abstract
After 12 years of successful publication in the campus, Hacettepe Medical Journal, official journal of the Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University, is opening to the international readers as an open access journal with a new title, Acta Medica. Hacettepe Medical Journal has published review and original articles and reflected changes and challenges in the medical field. Prof. Bülent Sivri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Hacettepe University, privileged us to have the opportunity of Editorship. We will continue the fine tradition established by the former Editors, namely Professors İskender Sayek, Serhat Ünal, Uğur Özçelik and all other distinguished Editorial Board Members.
