Laporan Kajian Randai Warisan Masyarakat Minang Negeri Sembilan: Meneroka Perkembangan dan Taburannya

This research report is part of cultural mapping research in Negeri Sembilan which been undertaken in 2008. Data has been collected through participation in its performances, interviews and field observations. It is found that Randai in Negeri Sembilan had been brought by the Minang people who were originated from Western Sumatera. Further more, there are few agencies that have played their in developing this Negeri Sembilan’s cultural heritage such as Kementerian Kebudayaan, Kesenian dan Warisan (formerly), Majlis Tindakan Pelancongan Negeri Sembilan, Jabatan Kebudayaan, Kesenian dan Warisan Negeri Sembilan, and Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung. The distribution of Randai activities in Negeri Sembilan could illustrate there are only few places that still perform this dance actively. This is because there are difference of the inclination or interest among the youngest from one district to other districts, and also the lack of seriousness of those involved in the respective district.
