  • Abstract
The word “Nano” is derived from the Greek “nanos” meaning “dwarf” and denotes one billionth of a unit.1 Nanoparticles are the ones with size less than 100nm in at least one dimension. According to National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), ‘Nanotechnology is the understanding and control of matter at the nanoscale, at dimensions between approximately 1 and 100 nanometers, where unique phenomena enable novel applications’. Nanomedicine is the application of nanotechnology in medicine while nanodermatology is nanotechnology applied to the field of dermatology for various purposes.
