X-ray Structure of 2,6-Biphenyl-1,4-Diselenafulvene and its Reaction with Fe2(CO)9

2,6-Biphenyl-1,4-diselenafulvene (1) was prepared by air oxidation of PhC(identical)CSe-. Treatment of 1 with equimolar amounts of Fe2(CO)9 produced (μ3-Se)2Fe3(CO)9 (2). Compound 1 was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H-, 13C{1H}-NMR spectroscopy and by X-ray structure determination, while compound 2 was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and EI- MS spectrometry.
