Abstract :
Both cutaneous and visceral forms of leishmaniasis are prevalent in some parts of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Mediterranean type of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is also reported sporadically throughout the country with canines being the main animal reservoir hosts.
