Abstract :
The condensation reaction between 2,6-diaminopyridine and acetylacetone in ethyl alcohol under reflex for a prolonged time has resulted in the hitherto unknown 4-(6-Amino pyridine-2-ylamino)-pent-3- en-2- one characterized by FT-IR, 1H, 13C NMR and X-Ray crystallographic techniques. C10H13N3O Crystalizes in the monoclinc space group P2(1)/n with a = 8.4011(10), b = 15.8824(19), c = 15.3714 (19) Å3. The amide group is cis oriented. Geometries were optimized using the Gaussian Go3 program.
