Abstract
(2E)-3-(1,3-Dihydroisobenzofuran-5-yl)-1-(thiophen-3-yl)prop-2en-l-one (1) and (2E)-3-(1,3- dihydroisobenzofuran-5-y1)-1-((2,5-dimethylfuran-3-yl)prop-2-en-l-one (2) are used as key starting chalcones to react with different active methylene reagents under phase-transfer catalysis condition as a versatile and new technique in organic synthesis. Michael adducts were formed within short reaction period with high yield. The structure of the products were confirmed by IR, NMR and mass spectral data and elemental analysis
