Abstract :
Medicinal chemistry route of sildenafil stimulated us to synthesize novel target compounds. New analogues containing a 4-thiazolidinone ring bonded to the phenyl moiety at the 2 -position, 5-N^2- [{substituted benzothiazolyl} sulfonamido]-2-methoxy-N^3-[2-{substituted phenyl}-4-oxo-thiazolidino]- carboxamide were efficiently synthesized from 2-methoxy benzoic acid via Schiff bases, Final compounds have been characterized by their element analysis, IR, 1H-NMR mass spectral studies. All the synthesized compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial activity and compared with standard drugs. Some of them showed excellent activity. All the final compounds were found more active compared to respective Schiff bases; due to formation of new heterocyclic rings increase activity.
