Although neglected tropical diseases are a diverse group of conditions, they share a common feature: they are diseases of poverty. Lymphatic filariasis is one of the neglected tropical diseases and affects around 120 million people globally, about 40 million of whom suffer from the stigmatizing and disabling clinical manifestations of the disease.
