Letter from the Editor

In February this year, the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region bid farewell to Dr Hussein Abdel-Razzak Gezairy as Regional Director after 30 years of dedicated service to the peoples of Region. Dr Gezairy assumed the position of Regional Director in 1982 following several years as Founder-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Riyadh University (1969) and then as Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia as of 1975.
