Abstract
A series of compounds .V-(R)-2-(4-thiazolidinone) acetamide and (2Z)-2-[(R1) imino]-3- [(4-thiazolidinone) acetyl]-l, 3-thiazolidin-4-one containing thiazolidinone as basic nucleus were synthesized and found that the synthetic route is environment friendly. Microwave irradiation was used for the activation and montmorillonite clay K-10 was used as a catalyst Chromatographic techniques were used for purification and separation. The structural elucidation was conducted by spectroscopic means (FTIR, NMR and MS). Diffusion method was used to assess the antibacterial activity and compounds 1a, 2a, 2c and 2e were shown to have the best antibacterial activity.
