Abstract
Ten compounds have been isolated for the first time from Aerva persica namely, methyl grevillate (1), 5, 4¢ -hydroxy-3, 6, 7-trimethoxyflavone (2), 5-hydroxy-3, 6, 7, 4´-tetramethoxy-flavone (3), apigenin 7-O-b-D-glucoside (4), β-sitosteryl acetate (5), lupeol (6), lupeol acetate (7), benzoic acid (8), 5-hydroxy 2¢, 3,5¢,6,7-pentamethoxyl flavone (9), and 3,3¢,5,7-trihydroxy-4¢-methoxyflavone 7-O-b-D-glucopyranoside (10). Their structures have been elucidated by EIMS, HREIMS, FAB, HRFABMS, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic methods. All the isolated compounds are tested for their antimicrobial activity.
