Abstract :
A steroidal-glycoside (spirotorvoside) has been isolated from the ethanol soluble part of Solanum torvum (Solanaceae) collected from Ibadan (Nigeria). Structure of spirotorvoside was elucidated as 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-3)-ß-D-quinovopyranosyl-3ß, 6α, 23-trihydroxy-5α-spirostane with the aid of spectroscopic techniques including two dimensional NMR experiments
