The Importance of Price Estimate And Repair Documents for Research on Ottoman Economy (Based on the Şer’iye Registers on Konya)

Turkish archives include many collections, especially tapu-tahrir registers, that provide numerical and economic data significant for understanding the social and economic history of the Ottoman State. One such collection is the Şeriyye registers including narh, purchase/sale/rent documents, and charters including their foundation and worker’s wages. The documents concerning price estimate and repair hujjats in the Şeriyye registers are significant for research on charters, urban history and foundation, art and architecture, history and economy, etc. Thus, the aim of this paper is to introduce the price estimate and repair documents in the Şeriyye registers by focusing on a selection of 16^th and 17^th Century Konya Şeriyye Registers.
