Political Power and the Class of Seyfiyye in Ottoman State: The Sample of Grand Vizier

Ottoman regime for civil servants can be resolved in a triple functional disintegration as science, sword and bureau. In this sense, the present study is intended to analyse the positioning of the seyfiyye class in the political power and bureaucratic structure of Ottomans. This will be done by determining the years 1323-1453, 1453-1656, 1656-1703 and 1703-1789 as important breaking moments in the Ottoman political power and by tracing the professional roots of the Ottoman grand viziers throughout this process.
