  • Abstract
The Safavid Empire was founded on the heritage of White-Sheep Turkomans in the early 16th century with Tabriz as its capital. In the West, they struggled against the Ottoman Empire, and in the east against the Uzbeks. The struggle that was carried out against the Ottoman Empire was a political and strategic one and had the sole purpose to take control the vast border from Georgia to Persian Gulf. For both states, the economy-based conflict had focused on East Anatolian, Azerbaijan, Iraq-Arabia and Iraq-Iranian territory. During the first years of the Shah Abbas I’s reign, the Ottoman Empire had occupied Azerbaijan, El- Cezire and Iraq territory. After the truce of 1590, Shah Abbas had cleaned up his country from infight and reinstated the central authority. He had strengthen his army and had started clashes with the Uzbeks. During the reign of Shah Abbas (1587-1629), the fighting between Ottomans and Safavids mostly focused on Southern Azerbaijan, Eastern Anatolia and Western Iran and from time to time Georgia, Armenia, Caucasian, Iraq-Arabia was also included to this conflict. We, on this paperwork, will try to explain the second phase (1603-1612) of The Ottoman Empire vs. the Safavid struggle that mostly based on economic-reasons and afterwards the siege of Yerevan in line with the Safavid historian Eskandar Bag Monshi.
