Development and Validation of the Piri-Muridi Scale

Present study was carried out to develop and validate a multidimensional instrument to assess attitudes of people towards the institution of Piri-Muridi. Literature was reviewed and focus discussions were conducted to generate items for the scale. The item-pool consisted of 68 items that were further grouped into 7 categories for pretesting of the scale. Scale was administered on murids (n = 106) and non murids (n = 130) from five regions of Potohar, Pakistan. Exploratory Factor analysis yielded two major factors i.e., belief on piri-muridi and perception of changes in pirimuridi.Psychometric properties of the scale were established.
