Abstract
While the controversy whether Pakistan was meant to be an Islamic state or a Muslimpeople s state is farfrom resolved, there is .a large measure of agreement among students of politics that Pakistan was supposed to be and has always been considered a nation-state. However, over the years the character of the nation in the Pakistan state has progressively become less and less clear.
