Abstract :
A model for multihomed BGP networks is developed which calculates the probability of all network stages given the probability of an individual link failure. For a given utilization of the network before link failures; the model can be used to predict the influence of link failure on network performance. This paper introduces a mathematical model for multihomed networks developed using a combination of probability and traffic engineering techniques. The model is useful for enterprises, Application Service Providers (ASPs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which using multi-homed links. It can be used to determine their bandwidth requirements to guarantee their Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the customers, analyze the probability of meeting these SLAs under different states of link failure and calculate the delay changes associated with these failures.
