Abstract :
Objective: This qualitative study was aimed at determining the opinions of preschool teachers on music activities. Method: Interviews were conducted with 25 preschool teachers who agreed to participate in the study and the data were gathered with a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. The form administered to the preschool teachers comprised questions on awareness, planning and implementation of music activities. The study results revealed that most of the teachers did not attend in-service training, courses or workshops for music activities, planned music activities themselves, had difficulties with finding songs during planning, as well as, with class management during implementation. Results and Conclusion: The teachers, who characterized music in various ways, did not cite any other music activity than singing and emphasized that materials should be durable and practical. The majority of the teachers who played a musical instrument reported playing the recorder.
