Abstract
Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a descriptive term meaning a demonstrable disorder, either clinically evident or subclinical, that occurs in the setting of diabetes mellitus without other causes for peripheral neuropathy. It is the most common and troublesome complication accounting for more hospitalizations than all the other diabetic complications combined, and is responsible for 50% to 75% of non-traumatic amputations.
