Abstract :
For decades, adequate circulating Vitamin D (25OHD) concentration is considered essential for maintenance of bone health while inadequate levels of 25OHD have classically been associated with bone disorders, such as rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis. Recent literature identifies role of vitamin D in many other organ systems of the body and reports a pandemic of vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency globally, in a very diverse population around the world.
