Abstract
Editorial: Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection frequently leads to liver cirrhosis (1), which is a major risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver failure. Together, these two complications account for nearly half a million HCV-related deaths every year, world-wide (2).
