Characteristics of Parallel and Counter Flow of Air Washer

The objective of the present research is to study experimentally the characteristics of the air washer having parallel and counter water spraying modes. The investigated cases are different according to the direction of sprayed water relative to the air flow through the air washer chamber. The washer effectiveness, number of transfer unit, mass and heat transfer coefficients according to wetting ratio were obtained. The study shows that the counter flow mode gave higher characteristics than the parallel flow mode.
