Abstract :
Lead plays a crucial role in the occurrence of many diseases in animals and human, Punica granatum is a plant that has high nutritional value, Therefore this study assessed the ability of pomegranate peel aqueous extract to protect and / ameliorate against lead induced anemia. The results revealed that administration of lead acetate caused high significant decreased in RBCs, Hb, PCV, WBCs, platelets iron, copper, and significant increase in erythropiotin hormone, billirubin and serum lead. In spite of that pomegranate peel was polluted with lead, pomegranate peel water extract partially ameliorated the deleterious effect of lead on heamatological parameters but with unwanted effect on bone marrows represented by decreased cellularity .
