Background radiation study of Offa industrial area of Kwara State, Nigeria

A study of the external background radiation in Offa industrial area of Kwara State is hereby reported. An in-situ measurement using two Digilert radiation monitors at five different stations were carried out. A mean exposure rate of 0.0132mR/hr, which represents 20% elevation from the standard background radiation, was obtained. This suggests the possibility of the presence of radionuclide sources in the Offa environment.
