Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to develop a reliable and valid instrument in order to determine the primary school students’ view about historical knowledge. A total of 525 students of 6th, 7th and 8th grades from 6 different primary schools were participated in this study. The instrument is composed of totally 20 items with five factors namely, certainty of historical knowledge (5 items), the source of historical knowledge (4 items), the development of historical knowledge (4 items), the basis of historical knowledge (4 items), the transference of historical knowledge (3 items), and the whole instrument has a reliability coefficient of Cronbach α=0.82. At the same time, this instrument is also the first original instrument developed for determining the primary school students’ view about historical knowledge in Turkey.
