Abstract
The purpose of this study is to reveal the perceptions of prospective classroom teachers and pre-school teachers about the significance characteristics of teacher that they consider necessary to sustain the music education efficiently. Moreover, it is aimed to show the similar and different aspects of opinions of prospective teachers in both groups. It is understood that great differences are not present by the departments of the prospective teachers for the average and ranking of the answers to the items according to results of the study. It is found out that both groups viewed personal and teaching skill characteristics as significant at the top of the scale, and they viewed musical characteristics as significant at the lower of the scale.
